AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Main Issues

This is what LoPRA aims to achieve in co-operation with existing village and public bodies ...

  1. MONITOR all planned public and commercial building projects and activities within Long Preston to ensure these meet the objectives of the Village Plan and the wishes of Long Preston residents.

  2. TAKE ACTION (regarding 1. above) if thought necessary.

  3. LIAISE with Parish Council, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Craven District Council, North Yorkshire County Council and all other appropriate bodies over issues affecting the village.

  4. COMMUNICATE regularly to the village all information of local importance, through the medium of the Parish Magazine, LoPRA's website and regular open meetings.

  5. LOBBY and maintain pressure on appropriate authorities re A65 traffic volumes, noise and environmental issues.

  6. REPRESENT Long Preston’s best interests to local and (if appropriate) national media.

  7. DEFINE and agree the term ‘affordable housing’ with Parish Council and planning authorities.

  8. OPPOSE all development on greenfield sites.

  9. WORK WITH other village bodies to ensure all public services (ie broadband, public transport, environmental and recreational) are available to village.

  10.  RESEARCH by correctly conducted methods, the needs, opinions and concerns of village residents.

  11. INVOLVE Long Preston's young people and ensure their voice is heard.
