LoPRA - What is it About? LoPRA was formed in August 2004 in response to the acute concern felt within the village at the scale of commercial housing development to date - especially given the aim of speculative property developers to increase this on a massive scale on the green-field sites, surrounding the village LoPRA also lobbies actively on other issues of key importance to the village: traffic speeds and noise on the A65; the extent of genuine need within the village for affordable housing (which the Association supports if the need can be accurately quantified); and backing for village facilities and activities. In this regard it will work closely with the Parish Council which has been offered a seat on the LoPRA management committee. Since its formation the LoPRA committee, its members and the A65 sub-committee have undertaken a vast amount of work communicating with official bodies, be it through lobbying letters, meetings, conferences or telephone calls, which have directly or indirectly led to a number of outcomes.
